Your data and choices

Anglers Base only uses personal information needed to run your account and the features you choose. You can browse as a guest without creating an account.

Who is responsible

Anglers Base, operated by the ERA Anglers team, is the controller of personal information used by this service. Privacy and account requests can be emailed to anglersbaseera@gmail.com. Please do not send a password or password-reset link.

What is stored

• If you sign in: your email, profile details and security information. New email accounts must confirm their address before they can sign in.
• Content you add: catches, photos, discussions, replies, likes, follows, fishing sessions, tackle, bait and packing lists.
• Basic technical data needed to keep the service secure and working. Guest activity and preferences may be stored locally on your device.

How it is used

We use this information to provide your account, sync your private records, show content you choose to share, operate community safety tools and improve reliability. Anglers Base does not sell personal information.

Legal reasons for processing

• Providing the service: account, sign-in, saved records and features you request are processed to provide Anglers Base to you.
• Legitimate interests: proportionate technical, security, moderation and reliability information is used to keep the service safe and improve how it works.
• Consent: optional Google Analytics is used only after you accept it. You can withdraw that choice at any time through cookie settings.
• Legal obligations: information may be used or retained where the law requires it.

Analytics and cookies

Optional Google Analytics is used only after you accept analytics cookies. It helps us understand broad usage such as Lake Finder searches, fishery page visits, Fishing Conditions Dashboard use, account registrations and catch reports created. We do not send passwords, email addresses, catch notes, photos or search text to Google Analytics.

Google Analytics may set _ga cookies and receive technical information such as device type, approximate location, pages viewed and interaction times. Advertising storage, ad personalisation and Google signals remain disabled. You can reject analytics without losing access to Anglers Base and can change your choice at any time.

Location and weather

Your chosen or approximate location is used to request local weather. Saved weather locations remain on your device. Never use the weather score as a safety guarantee.

Service providers and international transfers

We use service providers for hosting, data storage, security, email verification and password-reset delivery, weather data and — only after consent — Google Analytics. They may process limited information on our behalf and must protect it. Where information is processed outside the UK, we rely on appropriate contractual or legal safeguards provided by those services.

How long information is kept

Account information and saved content are kept while your account remains active or until you delete them. Guest data stays on your device until you clear it. Limited technical, security and backup records may remain for only as long as reasonably needed for security, recovery, legal or fraud-prevention purposes.

Your controls and rights

You choose whether catch reports are private or public. Account settings let you update your profile, change your password and permanently delete your account and active account content.

UK data-protection law may also give you rights to access, correct, erase, restrict or object to use of your personal information, and to request a portable copy where applicable. You can withdraw analytics consent at any time. Contact the ERA Anglers team below to make a request; we may need to confirm your identity first.

TERMS OF USE

Use the app responsibly

Anglers Base provides planning, record-keeping and community tools. Venue details, prices, rules, stock information, maps and weather can change and may occasionally be incomplete. Always confirm important details with the fishery before travelling.

• Follow fishery rules, the law, rod-licence requirements and safe fish-care practice.
• Only post content you have the right to share. Do not impersonate others, mislead users or misuse another person’s information.
• Do not attempt to disrupt, reverse engineer or gain unauthorised access to the service or another account.
• We may hide or remove unsafe, unlawful, abusive or misleading content and may restrict accounts that repeatedly break these rules.

Fishing and outdoor activity involve risk. You remain responsible for your decisions, equipment, permissions and personal safety.

COMMUNITY GUIDELINES

Keep it useful and welcoming

• Be respectful. No bullying, threats, hate speech or targeted harassment.
• Keep posts relevant to fishing and avoid spam, scams or deceptive promotion.
• Protect exact capture locations and private information when sharing catches.
• Use truthful catch and venue details. Respect fish, wildlife, landowners and other anglers.
• Report content that appears unsafe or breaks these guidelines instead of escalating the situation.

Need help?

For an incorrect lake listing or map pin, open that venue and use Report incorrect information. Use the report option on a community post for moderation concerns.

For account, privacy or app help, email the official Anglers Base support address. Never send your password or a password-reset link.
